Glenn Edward “Bergy” Burgeson, 92, of Honeoye Falls, NY, formerly of Hendersonville, NC passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017 at Pinehurst Senior Living Community.
Glenn was born on October 5, 1924 in Elgin, IL to Raymond Burgeson and Madeline (Frisby) Burgeson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, IL in 1950 with a degree in Business. Glenn married Ann Elizabeth Quicksall, his college sweetheart, on August 19, 1950 in St. Matthews, KY. Together they were blessed with four children during their 36 years of marriage. Glenn married Eleanor (“Ellie”) Frances Smith Nelson, a fellow Knox College graduate and friend, on September 23, 1989 in Hendersonville, NC. They celebrated 23 years of marriage together.
Glenn was accomplished in business and was recognized for his advertising and sales expertise. Glenn was a loving, generous and dedicated man who was passionate about sports, whether playing college basketball, men’s tennis or watching his beloved Chicago Cubs. While in Hendersonville, NC, Glenn was an active member of his church community and Civitan. He was a volunteer at the Special Olympics as a hugger and sponsor of the athletes.
Glenn is survived by his daughters, Lucy (Joe) Rees of Weston, MO and Jill (Curt) Klos of Honeoye Falls, NY, his son, Glenn Mark (Marianne) Burgeson of Charlotte, NC, his grandchildren, Christy (Matt) Schaefer, Daniel (Sarah) Rees, Laurie (Chad) Hraha, Lily (Patrick) Nelson, Jennifer Klos, Bret Burgeson, and Madison Burgeson, 8 great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Carl (Betty) Quicksall. Glenn is survived by Eleanor’s daughters, Carol Palmer and Susan (Kenny) Abrams of Westwood, MA. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Madeline Burgeson, his two wives, Ann Quicksall Burgeson and Eleanor Smith Nelson Burgeson and his oldest daughter, Linda Burgeson.
Private memorial services will be held in Butler, KY and in Hendersonville, NC. The family would like to thank Pinehurst Senior Living Community and Days Senior Companion Service for their care and support.
