Bruce William Dean, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and trusted professional, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4th, 2026, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.
Born to the late Kenneth and Margaret Dean, Bruce spent his lifetime building a legacy defined by intellectual curiosity, professional excellence, and a boundless willingness to help others. For the majority of his career, Bruce worked as a dedicated geologist and landman. His deep knowledge of the earth and the industry earned him widespread respect among his peers. Rather than fully slowing down in retirement, Bruce redirected his sharp mind toward new challenges, successfully transitioning into the financial and insurance sectors. He had a second act as a registered broker-dealer agent, investment advisor representative, and licensed insurance agent.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bruce was a man of quiet faith and active service. He was known to give his time to the Salvation Army and served faithfully within the various churches he belonged to over the years. Bruce did not seek recognition for his charity; instead, he chose to live it out daily through countless acts of kindness toward friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. He will forever be remembered for his heroic heart—most notably for the time he braved a flooded road to safely rescue a stranded grandmother and her two young grandchildren trapped in their car.Bruce’s greatest joy, however, was his family.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of over 50 years, Jerusha Dean, with whom he built a lifetime of beautiful memories. He is also survived by his only son, Adam Dean, and his daughter-in-law, Sue Dean. Bruce was a profoundly proud grandfather to his three grandchildren: Mason, Evie, and Amelia Dean. He is also survived by his two loving sisters, Barbara Dean and Bonnie Dean.Bruce's legacy of kindness, protection, and devotion will continue to live on through the family he adored and the many lives he quietly transformed.
