Obituary for Jean D. "GiGi" Farley
Rochester, NY: GiGi was born in Granite City, MO. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Anna Chesney and her loving husband, Charles. She is survived by five children, Pamela Oneill (Patrick), Tom Farley (Suzanne), Bill Farley (Therese), Mark Farley and Lisa Gillespie (Stewart) of West Park, FL; six grandchildren, Farley Postgate (Susannah), Meghann Libman (Marc),Tracy Sidmore, Tesse Farley and Declan Farley, Christine Farley; five great-grandchildren, Julia Postgate, Charles Postgate, Alex Whipple, Lance Sidmore Killegrew and Finnegan Sidmore Killegrew; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles and Jean moved to Brighton, NY in 1950 from Detroit, MI. As the family grew, they built homes in Penfield and Pittsford where they lived thirty plus happy years.
GiGi was an avid duplicate bridge player and a competitive golfer during 30 years as a member at Locust Hill CC. She was a past president of the LHWA and a 30 year volunteer for the LPGA. Later, GiGi volunteered for 8 years at the Highland Hospital gift shop. After the kids moved on, GiGi worked as a secretary at Waldert Opticians in downtown Rochester where she also enjoyed the many shops and dining venues available in the 60’s and 70’s.
GiGi loved to entertain and was a fine and generous hostess to her friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. GiGi traveled the world and lived a full life. She will be missed by many.
A Memorial Service was held on March 8th at White Haven Cemetery in Perinton, NY.
