Susan Mount

Died unexpectedly at age 75 at home with her dear cat, Posey, on her lap on March 23, 2021 after recent surgery. She is survived by her siblings: Nancy Peiffer (Peter) with their daughters, Robin Faltz (Steve) and Kathryn Willard (Gary) and their families of North Carolina; Voorhees Mount (Linda Goodman) and his daughter, Jenny Mount, of California; and Janice Passafiume (Sam) and their children, Sarah, Corey, and Kaitlin of Rochester; and Posey. She will be missed by many other dear friends and family. Susan was born in Rochester where she excelled in all aspects of teenage life at Charlotte High School. After she graduated from University of Buffalo, her love of literature took her to Syracuse University for a Masters in Library Science. Susan retired after many years as a librarian in Poughkeepsie, NY, and returned to Rochester where she became involved in civic activities and provided needed support to her mother and family. She will be remembered for her lasting beauty, her intellectual curiosity, and her generosity by those who knew her. Susan was a voracious reader, enjoyed family genealogy, crossword puzzles, world news programs, and getting to know people wherever she went. She was also a delightful conversationalist, well-versed in many topics, and eager to listen and trade ideas. Her knowledge was encyclopedic, her memory remarkable, and her sense of humor sparkling. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Edna Williams Mount; and her brothers, John, David, and Mark. Special thanks to the Passafiume family who helped in so many ways over the years. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date. But it would be fitting to raise a glass in honor of her birthday and her memory at 5:00 PM on May 5, and to recall something special about her. Memories and photos can be shared on the Tribute Wall.
