Obituary for Ruth Musseri
Ruth Evelyn Musseri, born June 13, 1919, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, 2017. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and she met her first husband, Robert N. Heffer, while attending Logan Basic College of Chiropractic, where she earned her Chiropractic Assistant certificate in 1944. Ruth and Bob relocated to Rochester, NY, in 1944 and had a son, David, in 1947. As David was growing up, she worked as a manicurist at beauty salons located on Monroe Avenue.
In 1962, Ruth married her second husband, John Musseri, a Rochester City policeman. John was also a pianist for several Rochester area jazz bands. John and Ruth enjoyed traveling to places like Florida, Arizona and Las Vegas. Ruth also enjoyed sewing and took many sewing classes, learning to create custom clothing for her family. She made bathing suits for her daughter-in-law, golf shirts for her husband and herself, and baby and children's clothes for her grandchildren. After John's death in 2001, Ruth continued her love of traveling, taking her family to Disney World and on a Caribbean cruise.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Rosa and Julius Bechtold, her husband John Musseri, and her brother Lamar Bechtold. She is survived by her son David (Dale) Heffer, grandson Daniel (Ceora) Hefvin, granddaughter Dalenna Heffer, all of Rochester and sister-in-law Alma Lee Bechtold, Sikeston, MO.
A Funeral Mass with be held January 25th, 10 AM followed by reception at Legacy at Cranberry Landing, 300 Cranberry Landing Drive, Rochester, NY 14622. Donations may be made in Ruth's name to the charity of one's choice.
