Obituary for Francis "Frank" Mackowski
Francis “Frank” Mackowski passed peacefully of natural causes the morning of May 6, 2020 in Rochester, New York. Born and raised in Syracuse, New York in 1925, Frank traveled much of the United States and Canada for both work and pleasure, and eventually settled in Fairport, New York to raise his family.

Throughout his lifetime of adventures, Frank made everlasting connections with people. He always had lots of stories and jokes to share and a memory that never missed a beat. For most of his career, he worked as technical service manager at a cement corporation, formerly known as Rochester Portland Cement. Frank honed his technical skills testing concrete for over 50 years and was part of some incredible projects such as the Xerox building, a NASA project, Rochester I-390 NYSDOT North Extension and the Saint Lawrence Seaway. He often spoke of his earlier days in Washington state in the 60’s working on the Hanford Nuclear Power Plant where he got to see President John F. Kennedy speak in person when he went to Hanford in September of 1963 for its dedication. Every year Frank looked forward to the annual company Clambake in Syracuse and even though Frank was retired for years, he was still invited year after year to talk shop with his younger work buddies, and he was extremely proud to say he never missed a one.

Frank was an inspiration to all… even at 94 he would routinely, walk laps with his daughter at the Perinton Rec Center up until late February of this year. He truly enjoyed going and giving a big “good morning” to everyone there. He also liked going out to Canandaigua Lake for boat rides and Friday Fish Fry’s with his son-in-law.

Like his brother, a former golf pro, Frank had a great passion for playing golf and also enjoyed going to the Masters, many PGA’s and watching tournaments on TV with his son. A couple of years ago, Frank ventured out to Arizona for the winter to spend time with his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. One evening he snuck onto the golf course with his son-in-law and at the age of 92 was sinking putts from a long distance like it was nothing.

Frank loved to listen to Frank Sinatra most of all, but when he heard polka music, he danced an amazing Polka with his wife and they would clear the dance floor.

Stories of family trips to his brother’s place in Myrtle Beach with dear friends will always be remembered, along with holidays at his sister’s house and summer vacations fishing in the Adirondack Mountains.

Frank is survived by his wife Mary, son Frank, daughters Anna and Debra, granddaughter Sienna and son-in- laws, Kraigh and Jimmy.

The family is grateful for all the memories and welcome any stories you’d like to share to bring comfort to those he loved.

We love you Frank and in the words of Frank Sinatra it’s time to…

“Fly Me To The Moon”

Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a, Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, in other words
I love you.
