Obituary for Daniel O'Grady
Passed peacefully November 8, 2024 with his son Sean by his side.
Danny was predeceased by his father Richard O’Grady. He is survived by his son, Sean; mother, Dorothy O’Grady; siblings, Tim O’Grady, Eileen (Jim) Volkmar, Mary Pero (Mike), Chris O’Grady(Lynda), Terry O’Grady (Michelle); former spouse, Cindy O’Grady; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Danny was a spiritual soul who always shared a hug, smile, laughter and good conversation. He was born June 29th, 1950 in Rochester, NY. Danny is a 1968 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and retired member of Local 13, Plumbers and Pipefitters. One of his favorite jobs where he was able to really engage in his passion of helping others, was working for FEMA. He would travel all over the country in order to rescue others suffered by natural disasters, and would help rebuild their communities.
He was a lover of sailing, adventure, golf, history, reading, movies, music, road trips and time with his son. His adventure seeking nature led him to sail on the Pacific Ocean and drive the Cannonball Run race across the country.
He’d give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, due to his incredible empathy and compassion for others. Dan enjoyed the simple things in life, and he lived with his full heart- with a heart as big as his, it was quite a large and wonderful life. He is a man that will be kept in the hearts of many, and in that sense, he continues to live on.
